Tuning Microsoft Word’s proofing features to make them work for you

Microsoft Word's proofing features have come a long way over the years from the original, simple spell-check.  Now it will auto-correct your spelling and flag your document with grammatical suggestions as you write it.  Sometimes Word may seem to be a little too helpful.  Fortunately, the proofing tools can be customized for your personal writing style.  Access the Options menu in Word and then select the Proofing section.  There are many configuration options available.  The AutoCorrect options allow fine customization of how Word corrects and formats as you type.   The Writing Style settings provide for a fine-grained control over recommendations on grammar, clarity, vocabulary, and more.  Check out these options and make Word's proofing tools work for you.
